The landlord of a historic pub has gone against his bosses and taken down the building's for sale sign.

Chris Garbott, 47, who works in the 400-year-old Vine Inn, in Bridge Road, said he is so fed up with the owner's of the pub Enterprise Inns promises that they are going to take the sign down, so he went and got a ladder on Tuesday February 24.

With the final of Masterchef 2009 being aired on Thursday February 26, I spoke to one of last year's finalists.

restoration.jpgRestoration work at St Peter's Shared Church in Chertsey has got at least £13,500 more expensive after a flag pole was found to be rotting from the inside out.

Malcolm Loveday, chairman of the Chertsey Society conservation group, said the pole's condition only came to light when steeplejacks climbed up the historic church in Windsor Street to remove a 50kg weathervane for restoration.

Stein, who owns a chain of restaurants in Cornwall and regularly presents his own cooking programmes, will be tracing his family tree during the geneology show on Monday February 16.

Pensioner Collapses at Home

A woman in her 80s collapsed at her home in Chertsey on Thursday February 5 after suffering breathing difficulties.

Paramedics were called shortly after 8.30am to the house in Free Prae Road, by a relative of the patient.

She was taken to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey by ambulance.

A semi-retired painter and decorator is calling on estate agents to stop nailing for sale signs on Chertsey's historic buildings.

Ralph Rendall, who lives in a listed building in Abbey Green, is calling on Runnymede Council to enforce the law, after saying 'for sale' signs posted on old buildings in Windsor Street and Guildford Street among others are causing them to deteriorate.
