The History Wardrobe makes a welcome return to Chertsey Museum on Saturday 11 June in a celebration of the traditional "white wedding": from Regency times to the 1980s. Discover some of the scandalous alternatives to divorce and admire a gorgeous array of gowns, photographs and accessories, in a presentation which will bring the past to life.

There are two performances 10.30 to 11.45 or 1.30 to 2.45. Tickets are £14.00 each (or £12.50 for Friends of Chertsey Museum). Prices include morning coffee (served from 11.45 to 12.15) or afternoon tea (served from 1.00 to 1.30). To book a place, please telephone 01932 565764, stating whether the morning or afternoon is preferred.

A GROUP of Chertsey residents' parking nightmares came true this week when double yellow lines were slapped down in their road.

For those who live in Charles Street it means a battle to be able to park outside their own houses.

They share the road with Compass House, which has an entrance to its car park on the street, and the residents claim their lives are about to become impossible.

An Ideal Husband in Thorpe

Posted by Thorpe Players on May 18, 11 11:38 AM in What's On

Are you missing your fix of Downton Abbey? Do you need more class and fabulous frocks in your life? Then Thorpe Players may have the answer. Their next play is An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde, and plays don't come much classier than that.

A story about an honest politician whose past catches up with him, director Valerie Lane says that "the play may have been written in 1895, but some issues don't change, and human nature certainly doesn't! The cast have worked incredibly hard to make sure that the play is both enjoyable and relevant to a modern audience." All Wilde's usual and clever story-telling is contained in this classic comedy, which is at Thorpe Village Hall from Wednesday 18th to Saturday 21st May at 8pm. Tickets cost £9 and £10 and can be booked on 07923 583295 or on the door, subject to availability.
