VOLUNTEERS are working hard in preparation for the launch of the Addlestone Foodbank.

It is hoped the new project, which is being led by Beacon Church, will help families in Runnymede who are desperately short of food and experiencing financial hardship.

BOXERS at The Biz were hard at work on Monday evening in preparation for a charity tournament that will take place next month.

The event will be held at Spelthorne Leisure Centre in Knowle Green, Staines, on Saturday February 4 and will include around 12 to 15 bouts.

CAMPAIGNERS reacted with disgust after councillors voted unanimously in favour of selling off an Ottershaw play park for potential development.

Despite the presence of disgruntled residents waving signs emblazoned with the words 'save our park', the recommendation to proceed with the sale of the land in Palmer Crescent was passed.
