THE BMX world took over Addlestone Moor on Easter Sunday with 275 riders visiting the recently refurbished Brackendene track for an important race meeting.

Runnymede Rockets hosted round two of the South Summer Series, which is an important competition contributing to the overall ranking of the best riders and teams in the south east.

RUNNYMEDE Rockets hosted their first open race day last weekend with more than 50 riders taking part.

Saturday March 10 was the first time the newly reformed club has hosted a competitive day of riding at the refurbished facility in Brackendene, Addlestone Moor.

BOXERS at The Biz were hard at work on Monday evening in preparation for a charity tournament that will take place next month.

The event will be held at Spelthorne Leisure Centre in Knowle Green, Staines, on Saturday February 4 and will include around 12 to 15 bouts.

POLITICAL heavyweights stepped into the ring for real last week to celebrate the success of an award winning boxing club.

They were joined by the High Sheriff of Surrey, professor Michael Joy, who officially presented the club's members with a shield they won at the end of November recognising The Biz as the sports project of the year in Surrey.

A BMX track that was covered in brambles and on the verge of being forgotten has been restored to its former glory by a dedicated team of racers.

Runnymede Rockets BMX Club was restarted just over two years ago to try and rescue the dirt jumps in Brackendene, Addlestone Moor, that have been unused for 15 years.
