chertsey-museum.jpgChildren and their families will get a chance to create something artistic in under 15 minutes when they visit Chertsey Museum on Saturday January 3.

Between 2pm and 4pm visitors to the museum in Windsor Street, Chertsey, can go to the Pardoe Room and follow instructions to create a 2009 calendar.

A spokeswoman said the craft events are be a regular feature on the first Saturday of the month and materials and admission to the museum is free.

Blood donation in Chertsey

Chertsey Hall will be holding a blood donation session on Friday, January 9.

Two sessions will be run during the day, the first at 12.45pm until 3.30pm, and the second from 5.00pm until 7.00pm.

Everyone is welcome but are urged to book ahead as an appointment is necesary.

A Christmas Cracker

White Lodge Centre in Chertsey is holding its third Chesney's Christmas Cracker to raise funds for the care of people with disabilities.

Former pop star Chesney Hawkes will be joined by Nik Kershaw and other celebrities for the event at Club 1 in Ascot on Sunday December 14.

THE CROWN, in Chertsey is holding a Christmas sing off.

Taking place at the pub in London Street, on Friday, December 19, the aim is to raise money for Chertsey Nursery, in Pycroft Road.

Starting at 7.30pm, there will be competions, auctions as well as singing.
Staff will also be dressing as famous idols.

The owners of Botley's Mansion in Stonehill Road are in talks with the Hell's Kitchen star's company Gordon Ramsay Holdings Ltd over a £5m deal to take over the Georgian building.

Ottershaw Oliver

Award-winning local drama group, Ottershaw Players, are presenting a version of Charles Dickens' story of 'Oliver Twist' in Woking next week.

The play, written by Jeremy Brock and directed by Matthew Horton, follows the tale of little orphan Oliver, who is brought up in the workhouse, before escaping to London.

Carla&Adam_ePress.jpgLocal drama group, Thorpe Players, is looking to the future with its next production.

The play, "Comic Potential", is set a few years hence, when daytime TV soaps are even further down the scale than they are now. Actors are not always Humans any more, some of them are Androids.

Chertsey Museum are looking for up to 60 people to interview for it's new oral history project, In Your Own Words.

The recordings will be themed based, and will not only be part of an exhibition planned for 2009, but will be stored in the museum's archives for future generations to access.

FM is the Wey to do it!

radio-wey-fm--2-15.jpgRadio Wey was celebrating in the early hours of October 14 after it launched on an FM frequency.

The 40-year-old station, based at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey, has acquired a Restricted Service License until November 12, and it hopes to gain a full Community Radio License in future.

Various venues in Chertsey are hosting art exhibitions to display pieces of work from children aged 3 - 18 years.

As part of the Chertsey Partnership of Schools, the exhibitions, with the theme, Links and Connections, are being displayed at Chertsey library from October 7 until Novermber 18, the out patients corridor at St Peter's Hospital between October 6 and October 27 and at St Peter's Church from October 8 to November 12.
